Elsbeth Linn Dowd

Executive Director

Elsbeth Dowd joined the OHS in 2016, coming back to Long Island after a decade in Oklahoma where she studied archaeology and worked at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History. She has a BA in Art and Archaeology from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Oklahoma. She strongly advocates for the role of museums in education and as places to engage with both historical and contemporary issues.

William McNaught


William McNaught has been Curator at the OHS since 2012. He was previously Director of OHS, Director of The American Museum in Britain, New York Regional Director of the Archives of American Art for the Smithsonian Institution, and Curatorial Assistant and Lecturer at The Frick Collection. He has served on the boards of The American Friends of the Attingham Summer School, The Attingham Trust in London, and The Bath Preservation Trust.

Amy Folk

Collections Manager

Amy Folk has been Collections Manager of OHS since 2003. She is also Archivist and Curator for the Southold Historical Society, and Southold Town Historian. Ms. Folk is currently the Immediate Past-President for the Long Island Museum Association, as well as the co-author of several award winning books on Southold history.

Karen Bull Haley

Office Manager

Karen Bull Haley has been Office Manager and Administrative Assistant at OHS since 2014. She previously served on the Education Committee and loves the programming and mission of the Society. Karen also teaches private voice and piano, serves as accompanist for local organizations, and is Director of Music for Orient Congregational Church.

Harold House

Marketing Director

Harold House has been with the OHS since 2014. He is a past member of the US-USSR Trade and Economic Council, the Michigan, Kentucky and Oklahoma Arts Councils, and the American Musicological Society. After 20 as director of media with major 4A advertising agencies, he now resides in Greenport and works as a consultant in brand development, web design, capacity building and marketing.

Colin Palmer

Membership Associate

Colin Palmer joined OHS in 2017 to coordinate membership outreach efforts. He has been active in artistic groups across the North Fork including director of the 2013 Greenport Shakespeare in the Park production. His interests include theater, American history, education, and historic preservation.
