Berries for Birds

Saturday, September 9 | 9:30 am - 10:30 pm

FREE TALK:  “Berries for Birds: A Community Effort to Provide Habitat for Birds” – To address the concerning loss of habitat of native trees and shrubs that provide the calorie-rich berries migrating and overwintering birds need to survive, North Fork Audubon Society created its Berries for Birds initiative.

Ellen Birenbaum’s presentation reviews the science of co-evolution of native plants, insects and birds, the nutritional properties of berries by season, and describes in detail the wide range of berry producing trees and shrubs that are native to the North Fork.
