SUMMARY:6th Annual NY Mutuals vs Oysterponders Vintage Baseball Game
DESCRIPTION:June 13th.  A centerpiece of OHS's year-long commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the nation's birth will be a presentation of a historically-accurate Revolutionary War encampment in Poquatuck Park by the New York 3rd Regiment. The event will be open to the public\, family-friendly\, educational\, and free.Additional components of the event will include a duo of musicians performing 18th-century songs on period instruments; a planned visit from the Revolutionary War boat from Port Washington (pending confirmation); sheep shearing demonstration to show how wool became clothing for soldiers and civilians; quill writing station where children and adults can try writing as it was done in the 18th century. felt boat-making activity for children\, connecting craft\, maritime history\, and learning through hands-on engagement.This program emphasizes daily life of Revolutionary War soldiers and civilians; the importance of Long Island Sound and maritime movement during the war; the specific role of Oysterponds and the North Fork in early Revolutionary War activity; traditional trades and skills that were essential in the 18th century.Event Parking will be available at the Methodist Church (1395 Village Ln - enter on Orchard St).\n\n"Revolutionary War Encampment & Living History Day" is made possible in part through the generous support of the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation and its 250th Commemoration Grant for 2026.
