The Janet T. Swanson Exhibition Gallery

Every summer the Janet T. Swanson Exhibition Gallery in the Old Point Schoolhouse is the venue for a brand-new, in-depth exhibition culled from Oysterponds Historical Society’s voluminous collection.

In 2022 the exhibition is Casting a Wide Net: Fishing on the North Fork, which opens to the public on Saturday May 28th at 11am. It will be open until late-September on Fridays and Sundays from 2pm to 5pm and Saturdays from 11am to 5pm.

The gallery is named in honor of former OHS Board Member Janet T. Swanson (1935-2000), who taught psychiatric and
mental health nursing at NYU, was a lobbyist for the New York State Nurses’ Association, and a Founding President of the
North Fork Women for Women Fund. We are forever grateful for her invaluable involvement in and generous support of OHS.
