Volunteer
Do you love our community on the North Fork and want to help out? As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit manned by a lean staff, OHS depends on community members to keep things running! We invite you to join our group of dedicated volunteers. Contact the OHS office for more information, 631-323-2480 or office@ohsny.org
Docents
Do you like meeting new people? Do you want to spend an afternoon getting to know neighbors and visitors? Join our docents! Docents are our ambassadors, greeting visitors and answering questions at Village House, Webb House, and the Old Point Schoolhouse. You can make a lasting impact on our visitors.
Docents volunteer for three-hour shifts throughout the summer during exhibit hours (Fridays & Sundays, 2-5pm and Saturdays, 11am-5pm). Special training is available from curatorial staff in May and June. Contact the OHS office for more information, 631-323-2480 or office@ohsny.org
Special Events
Do you love parties? We rely on volunteers to help with our special events! You can help make OHS feel welcoming and friendly while keeping our visitors happy. Contact the OHS office for more information, 631-323-2480 or office@ohsny.org
Buildings & Grounds Crew
Are you handy? Adept at maintenance, repairs, painting, and carpentry? Do you have a green thumb and enjoy gardening and landscaping? Join the Buildings & Grounds Crew! Members of this group meet up periodically throughout the calendar year to spruce up OHS and assist with odd jobs. Contact the OHS office for more information, 631-323-2480 or office@ohsny.org

Teen Volunteer Program
Our Teen Volunteers are students (grades 8-12) who are eager to learn about local history, art, and culture. We are looking for young people who are able to interact and work with adults in a professional manner, working semi-independently. Bilingual students are encouraged to apply.
Teens may volunteer as docents during our summer museum hours (Fridays & Sundays, 2-5pm and Saturdays, 11am-5pm). Other opportunities include helping with various behind the scenes activities, including social media, research, and light clerical work.
For those interested in completing more personal work, research and education projects may be available under the guidance of our curatorial staff.
To apply, contact the OHS office for more information, 631-323-2480 or office@ohsny.org
